Hamilton police’s marine unit is continuing the search for a 14-year-old boy who went missing on Saturday afternoon in Lake Ontario.

Hamilton police communications manager Jackie Penman said police were called to the Clare Avenue and Dexter Avenue area, along Hamilton Beach, around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the teen was using an inflatable swim toy with a group of friends when he went underwater.

She said police have no updates on the search for the teen.

The Canadian Coast Guard is continuing the search Sunday along with other marine emergency services, Penman said.

Hamilton police are urging people to avoid the area while emergency services co-ordinate the search.

More to come.
