A man has died in hospital following an alleged attack in Renfrewshire.

Robert Fisher, 26, was found with life-threatening injuries following an incident in the Maxwellton Street area of Paisley at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

Mr Fisher, from the town, was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

He died on Thursday afternoon, Police Scotland has now reported.

Cameron Woods, 25, and Damon McDowall, 24, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident before Mr Fisher’s death.

The pair appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday, where they both faced attempted murder charges.

McDowall was also charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and breaching bail conditions.

Both Woods and McDowall, of Paisley, made no plea and were remanded in custody. They are due back in court within the next week.
